Ciudad de México, 1981. Desde una edad temprana, Theo Camacho descubrió su pasión por el dibujo, iniciando su camino artístico como caricaturista. Gracias a la profesión de su padre, diseñador gráfico, tuvo acceso a materiales plásticos que le permitieron experimentar y desarrollar su creatividad. Con el tiempo, aprendió a transformar la realidad en algo propio, personal e irreal. Al reconocer que dibujar era lo que más disfrutaba, decidió enfocarse completamente en su desarrollo artístico.
Su formación comenzó de manera autodidacta en los talleres del CENART y, posteriormente, bajo la instrucción del pintor Demetrio Llordén. Fue en esta etapa cuando consolidó las bases para dedicarse a la pintura figurativa con una perspectiva más académica y formal. Entre sus maestros también destacan Javier Gomesoto, Luis Nishizawa y Jorge Obregón. Sus primeros trabajos se caracterizaron por representar escenas costumbristas, paisajes y bodegones.
De manera fortuita —o casi “accidental”, como él mismo lo describe— reintervino una de sus pinturas, agregando a un personaje femenino un antifaz y sombrero de bombín. Este acontecimiento marcó un punto de inflexión en su obra, dando un enfoque más dinámico y fantástico. Inspirado por la ópera y sus personajes, comenzó a explorar la temática del carnaval en su pintura.
El universo pictórico de Theo Camacho está impregnado de lirismo y teatralidad. Su obra nos transporta a un carnaval donde conviven músicos, acróbatas, personajes voluminosos y estilizados, aves enjauladas y máscaras que ocultan realidades. Sombras y ojos ocultos aportan misticismo a la atmósfera de sus composiciones. A través de una paleta de colores fríos, sus obras reflejan la complejidad de las emociones humanas. Para Theo, esta ilusión repetida en su pintura se convierte en una realidad absoluta, pues lo verdadero no es más que otro disfraz, una ilusión.
“Mis herramientas son el color y las formas. Pienso que el cuerpo humano es la gran expresión de todo, que debajo de la máscara hay un sinfín de emociones, sensaciones, magia y fantasía.” – Theo Camacho.
Actualmente, Theo ha incursionado en la pintura abstracta, experimentando con nuevos materiales más allá del óleo, como acrílicos, carboncillo, barras de pigmentos y otros elementos de gran carga matérica. El color y el movimiento siguen siendo ejes fundamentales en su producción artística, buscando la síntesis como vía de expresión.
En su paleta predomina el amarillo, rojo, azul, verde y blanco, utilizados para generar dinamismo a través de la vibración tonal. Su enfoque busca siempre transmitir más con menos elementos y construir imágenes a partir de la comprensión profunda del color.
Con una trayectoria de 25 años, Theo Camacho ha consolidado su carrera en las artes plásticas, exponiendo en diversas galerías y espacios, entre ellos Galería Lucita Aguilera, Galería 10:10, Canapo Art Gallery, Expo Arte, Galería 11, Galería Terzo y Red Dot , por mencionar algunos.
Tras años de exhibiciones en distintos espacios, en 2009 fundó su Galería de Autor en el barrio de San Ángel, Ciudad de México. En 2016 trasladó su proyecto a la colonia Roma, dando vida a Galería Vórtice, un espacio que no solo impulsa su obra, sino también la de artistas emergentes.
Para Theo, el arte es la máxima expresión del ser humano, una manifestación de la voluntad que permite construir la propia vida como una obra de arte. Su visión se basa en atreverse a explorar sin miedo, a cuestionar lo relativo, hacer lo que se ama y vivir con pasión.

From an early age, Theo Camacho discovered his passion for drawing, beginning his artistic path as a caricaturist. Thanks to his father’s profession, a graphic designer, he had access to plastic materials that allowed him to experiment and develop his creativity. Over time, he learned to transform reality into something of his own, personal and unreal. Recognizing that drawing was what he enjoyed most, he decided to focus entirely on his artistic development.
His training began as a self-taught artist in the CENART workshops and, later, under the instruction of the painter Demetrio Llordén. It was at this stage that he consolidated the foundations to dedicate himself to figurative painting with a more academic and formal perspective. Among his teachers are Javier Gomesoto, Luis Nishizawa and Jorge Obregón. His first works were characterized by depicting costumbrist scenes, landscapes and still lifes.
By chance —or almost “accidentally,” as he himself describes it— he reworked one of his paintings, adding a mask and bowler hat to a female character. This event marked a turning point in his work, giving it a more dynamic and fantastical approach. Inspired by the opera and its characters, he began to explore the theme of carnival in his painting.
Theo Camacho’s pictorial universe is imbued with lyricism and theatricality. His work transports us to a carnival where musicians, acrobats, voluminous and stylized characters, caged birds and masks that hide realities coexist. Shadows and hidden eyes add mysticism to the atmosphere of his compositions. Through a palette of cold colors, his works reflect the complexity of human emotions. For Theo, this illusion repeated in his painting becomes an absolute reality, because the truth is nothing more than another disguise, an illusion.

Theo has currently ventured into abstract painting, experimenting with new materials beyond oil, such as acrylics, charcoal, pigment sticks and other elements with a high material content. Color and movement continue to be fundamental axes in his artistic production, seeking synthesis as a means of expression.
His palette is dominated by yellow, red, blue, green and white, used to generate dynamism through tonal vibration. His approach always seeks to transmit more with fewer elements and to build images based on a deep understanding of color.
With a career spanning 25 years, Theo Camacho has consolidated his career in the visual arts, exhibiting in various galleries and spaces, including Galería Lucita Aguilera, Galería 10:10, Canapo Art Gallery, Expo Arte, Galería 11, Galería Terzo and Red Dot, to name a few.
After years of exhibiting in different spaces, in 2009 he founded his Galería de Autor in the San Ángel neighborhood of Mexico City. In 2016 he moved his project to the Roma neighborhood, giving life to Galería Vórtice, a space that not only promotes his work, but also that of emerging artists.
For Theo, art is the highest expression of the human being, a manifestation of the will that allows one to build one’s own life as a work of art. His vision is based on daring to explore without fear, to question the relative, to do what one loves and to live with passion.
